A Little Fall of Rain... can hardly hurt me now

Sometimes, we get hurt so bad that we don't feel it anymore.

We do things beyond our capacity, mostly in the name of love, and it's amazing how we are able to do it.

We try so hard to make everything feel alright, to make all the hurt feelings just go away...

EPONINE
Don't you fret, M'sieur Marius
I don't feel any pain
A little fall of rain
Can hardly hurt me now
You're here, that's all I need to know
And you will keep me safe
And you will keep me close
And rain will make the flowers grow.

MARIUS
But you will live, 'Ponine - dear God above,
If I could heal your wounds with words of love.

EPONINE
Just hold me now, and let it be.
Shelter me, comfort me

MARIUS
You would live a hundred years
If I could show you how
I won't desert you now...

EPONINE
The rain can't hurt me now
This rain will wash away what's past
And you will keep me safe
And you will keep me close
I'll sleep in your embrace at last.

The rain that brings you here
Is Heaven-blessed!
The skies begin to clear
And I'm at rest
A breath away from where you are
I've come home from so far
So don't you fret, M'sieur Marius

I don't feel any pain
A little fall of rain
Can hardly hurt me now

That's all I need to know
And you will keep me safe
And you will keep me close

MARIUS(in counterpoint)
Hush-a-bye, dear Eponine,
You won't feel any pain
A little fall of rain
Can hardly hurt you now
I'm here

I will stay with you
Till you are sleeping

EPONINE
And rain...

MARIUS
And rain...

EPONINE
Will make the flowers...

MARIUS
Will make the flowers... grow...

Someday, sir, this too will come to pass. And you will look back, beyond the clouded gaze of one who has learned, that beneath the pain is strength.

I do not know much of what has transpired these past few days, and only your words expound on a grief, a traitor, to your usual self. Your past few entries are as foreboding and alarming to me, but I wish not to delve into something that is very personal to you.

From the short period I have known you over two months ago at the Philips Go Gear event, I can honestly say that yours is a resilience that can brave all. The way you light up the room despite a past that may not be as picturesque, defies what society and fate has dealt. The future may seem grim at the momen, but you'd be surprised with the heart's capacity to heal and be healed.

I am no guru with ardor affairs. Heck, I could be one of the unluckiest out there. But from what I know of you, of what you have shared that evening, is that you, sir, are a gem. A singular soul that uplifts his comrades. And any guy would be a fool to let you pass. You have the ability to touch beyond the superficiality of our peers. An optimism rarely seen in the cruel and selfish world we inhabit.

Let the rain fall and wash the soils of what was lost, for in the dissolution of each tempest the brightest of days commences. Your petals are eased from its burdens, to bloom beyond what the past defined.

Be strong sir.

I wish I could say something, but right now, more than words, I think what you need is a big, warm hug.

*MONSTER HUG* to The Green Man.
